Sunrise over the Sea of Galilee

The stillness of this morning sunrise over the Sea of Galilee stirs the imagination. This place served as the backdrop to Jesus and his disciples. Here on these shores, Jesus called Peter from his fishing boat to leave his nets and to be come a "fisher of men". It was on this lake that Jesus revealed his divinity by walking on its waters and calming a raging storm with just a word.

After his resurrection from the dead, Jesus made a breakfast of fish for his disciples beside the lake. These glimpses of divine power were revealed here, and our world has never been the same.

Today, many hotels line the Sea of Galilee's shores in the modern city of Tiberias.
